Blue Apothecary

Design Goal:

To create an exquisite dining experience that harmoniously integrates opulence and sophistication, reflecting the upscale ambiance of Robson Street in Vancouver, renowned for its luxurious shopping destinations, while showcasing the finest selection of seafood dishes curated with culinary excellence and innovation. The objective of the exterior is to captivate guests from afar with an enchanting patio and façade.

Concept:

Our restaurant encapsulates the rustic charm of Tuscany and the verdant allure of Greece, marrying architectural features like stucco arches and gold accents. Pink-tinted mirrors emit a rosy glow, enhanced by recessed LED lighting for ambient warmth. Contrasting black windows add depth, while the ceiling mimics ocean waves. Lush vines and greenery evoke the Mediterranean, while herringbone wood floors provide a classic touch. Together, these elements create a captivating dining environment, transporting guests to the sun-soaked landscapes of Southern Europe for an unforgettable culinary journey.

Location:

Robson Street in Vancouver is renowned as the epitome of sophistication, nestled within a posh shopping district brimming with upscale boutiques, fine dining establishments, and a vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere. This design was intended to replace the current Cactus Club that has closed down.

FACADE & ENTRY

The facade is meant to draw guests inside and encourage curiosity. The goal was to create an ambiance outside that reflected the interior space and create additional seating during warmer months.

 ENTRY

The ceiling is meant to draw the eye upward as well as disguise some awkward ceiling features that are required for HVAC and electrical. The goal here was to create a toe hold and direct traffic to the bar or the host and waiting area.

ALCOVE SEATING

The banquette seating and surrounding arches are meant to add comfort and flexibility, allowing guests options when seating themselves. The soft lighting and greenery create a beautiful backdrop for capturing memories.

WOOD & WELL

The bar grounds the space adding a beautiful and functional focal point. The pink-tinted mirrors create a rosy warm glow throughout the space and make the narrow floor plan feel roomier.

BRANDING

The large booth at the back accommodates larger parties and features the restaurant name to increase opportunities for social media advertising.

BANQUETTE SEATING

The dark forest green fabric adds contrast to a neutral color palette while the arches create repetition and draw from the European inspiration the client wanted for the space.

DECOR

The layered lighting and greenery create a beautiful frame for guests while seated.

VIP AREA

The back of the restaurant is designated for private events and features a glass wine enclosure that creates a beautiful and functional means of storage. The area is tucked out of immediate view due to the staircase that leads upstairs, creating a semi-private zone for guests.
